Piles or Haemorrhoids is a painful and unbearable condition. These are supporting tissue clumps or masses or cushions in the anal canal. Treatment for Piles

Piles or haemorrhoids are treated according to the severity of the condition. In case the symptoms are mild, the non-surgical treatment is advised. This treatment includes rest, stool softeners usage for avoiding the constipation, advise of fibre rich diet. Corticosteroids and lidocaline creams are also advised as local application for reducing the swell and pain. Such conditions can also be relieved by sitz bath or sitting in warm water tub.

If the condition is severe, the patients may require surgical treatments, only when the conservative measures do not benefit to alleviate the pain.

The surgery is performed for ligation of the haemorrhoids base and to cut the internal haemerrhoids. While the procedure is performed, blood supply will be cut to the external haemorrhoids. As a result of that, they start shrinking and cut. Sometimes they fall off themselves.

There is another procedure called rubber band ligation, which is also performed as the surgery.

After the procedure is performed, the patient has to stay in the hospital for that night and to be monitored and then will be discharged the next day. It takes about 2 weeks of time to recover completely to heal the wounds near the anus. These wounds are painful to the patients and take more time to heal. Both the above procedures are resulted in severe postoperative pain and so takes longer time for recovery.

Unlike the above surgical methods, stapled haemorrhoidectomy, which is also called as Minimally Invasive Prolapse and Haemorrhoids or Circumferential Mucosectomy is performed that is less complicated and less painful.

Procedure

During the procedure, loose connective tissues are removed and haemorrhoids are repositioned, in the anal canal. In some of the cases, this procedure is combined with the conventional haemorrhoidectomy, when needed. This procedure is not advised fro enterocele and anismus. The surgery takes only 30 minutes with spinal or local sedaction.
