The nucleus herniated or broken through its outer ring, lower back will start increasing. It because the jelly like nucleus inflames the nerves of the spine. The pressure it puts over the spinal nerves that are sensitive will cause the weakness, numbness and pain in a single or both the legs. Apart from these causes, herniated disc also happens because of the natural process of aging of the spine. It is because the water content in the disk dries out. Then discs will get shrunk and the vertebrae spaces will become narrow. Such process by aging is called disc degeneration.
